The 2nd annual APBA TOUR BATTLE ended in surprising fashion with 8th-seeded Chris Gotterup (2025) defeating no. 1-seed Nelly Korda (2025) at Jersey Pines (Pine Valley). APBA Tour Battle II proved to be a classic with most matches going the full 18 and several going extra holes. Cameron Young played 3 matches, all going to […]
Steel City Gets the Math Right
Steel City gets the math right. That is the most important conclusion from my replay of the 2025 U.S. Open at Oakmont. Played with APBA Golf’s Master Game rules, the course designer’s special instructions and Game Caddie’s “Modern” distance setting, Steel City produced a remarkably convincing statistical representation of one of the most difficult championships […]
2025 U.S. Open Replay: Final Results
Tournament action for this replay began exactly four months ago on April 19, 2026. During that time I logged 252 rounds on Steel City (Oakmont), many of them fruitless efforts to break par. This post covers the results of Round 4 for both the actual event and the replay along with a wrap-up. See my […]
Career Vs Last 10 Power Rankings: 8/15/2026
Every Power Rankings post so far has run on my own logged rounds. This one doesn’t. Game Caddie user, Joe Barrett, allowed me to create Career and Last 10 Power Rankings — same formula, same methodology, using his recorded rounds. As I discuss below, his dataset is much better suited to a Career vs. Last […]
Career Power Rankings (8/13/2026)
APBA Golf recreates real professional rounds on cards, translating actual scoring, driving, and putting performance into a dice-driven simulation. Every card represents one player’s statistical output for a given season (more or less) — which means power rankings aren’t opinion polls, they’re math. Run the numbers across hundreds of cards spanning more than 150 years […]
How the Power Rankings Work
The Power Rankings take the golf stats I have collected playing APBA Golf and boil them down into a single score, so you can tell at a glance whose card is playing the best golf right now, and whose has been the best over the long haul. There are four kinds of Power Rankings I […]
Men’s Power Rankings: Top 10 (8/5/2026)
A little over six years ago, I began keeping records of my APBA Golf rounds–mostly played on my own but sometimes with others. In that time, I’ve compiled 3,868 of them with 1,100 different golfer cards. With all that data, I thought it might be fun to see who stacks up the best. If […]
2025 U.S. Open Replay: R3 Results
This post compares Round 3 of the 2025 U.S. Open at Oakmont with my replay of it using Steel City (par 70). Previous posts have covered the replay setup and the results for Rounds 1 and 2. Actual Results for Round 3 Friday narrowed the field. Saturday reshuffled it. Moving Day at most championships is defined […]
2025 U.S. Open Replay: R2 Results
This post details round 2 of my 2025 U.S. Open replay at Oakmont (Steel City). It compares the results of the actual tournament with my replay through the first two days of the event. See previous posts for descriptions of the replay setup and the results of round 1. Actual Results for Round 2 Round […]
2025 U.S. Open Replay: R1 Results
This post is the second in a series for my APBA replay of the 2025 U.S. Open at Oakmont (Steel City). The first post established the central question of the championship: If Oakmont was not preventing players from reaching greens, where did the considerable scoring pressure coming from? Actual Results Looking at Round 1 of […]
