The 1st Annual APBA TOUR BATTLE, pitting the top 8 world-ranked golfers from the PGA and LPGA, kicked off in four regions. All rounds were match play format using Game Caddie 6.9. The four quarterfinal regions included Jersey Pines (Pine Valley), Maui (Kapalua), Metro Memphis (TPC Southwind), and Southport (Royal Birkdale).
Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele advanced to the semifinals from the Jersey Pines and Maui regions. Lydia Ko and Jeeno Thitikul advanced from the Metro Memphis and Southport regions. Cactus Valley (TPC Scottsdale) hosted the semifinals where Xander knocked off Scottie 2 and 1. Lydia was 1 up over Jeeno after 17 holes and sank a 12-foot putt on the 18th green to finish the match 1 up in the Arizona desert.
The final match was set between the two tours and both golfers headed to Scotland to play their match at Birthplace (St. Andrews). Game Caddie’s creator, Scott Mohler caddied for Lydia Ko, while I caddied for Xander Schauffele.
Lydia won the first hole and never looked back, building a 5 up lead heading to the 13th hole. Xander’s approach shot on 13 was just off the green, while Lydia’s 2nd shot settled just 2 feet from the hole. Xander’s putt attempt from the fairway fell short and Lydia’s easy tap-in gave her the APBA TOUR BATTLE title!
