When you are new to the GC, there’s a lot to learn and remember. It’s easy to focus on those things that matter most to you and overlook “extra” features. Two of those options are on the Putting Board of the Clubs tab.
If you play or replay tournaments, you may want to consider using the Major Tournament Putting (MTP) Board instead of the default Regular Putting (RP) Board. While the probability of sinking a putt is nearly the same, misses tend to be somewhat longer with the MTP Board. To switch from one Putting Board to the other, click the Change Putting Boards button in the lower right portion of your screen. You will be asked if you want to make a swap. Click “Yes” to do so.
The Tap-In (TI) tool, at the bottom center of the screen, is another little handy feature for those of you who like to keep meticulous stats as I do. It lets you decide how long those tap-ins are, with the default being 0.5 feet (6 inches). You can set it to any number from 0 to 1 by typing it into the box. Within that range, it will let you choose a value with up to 7 decimal places.
As I write this, I’m wondering if the next GC version should let you set the TI tool, so that it generates a random decimal value for each tap-in? Move over ShotLink!
Random distance for a tap in is a great idea. They shouldn’t all be a set value. Would be a great addition to reflect in GCRB.
